Is YOUR body telling YOU to slow down? If yes, do you listen? If no, do you ignore signs that you should recognize? Unfortunately, I am sometimes guilty with regard to both the yes and no questions!!! Boo me. 🙁
Hidden Stressors: Is YOUR Body Telling YOU to Slow down?
We’ve all had those days where we feel depleted, both physically and emotionally. And now, with an ongoing pandemic and ever-changing rules and norms, it feels even harder to protect and preserve our energy and emotional well-being. To do so, it’s important to develop sustainable strategies that help us stay grounded and calm.
For this discussion, we turn to advice from Marina Khidekel, Head of Content Development at Thrive Global. To refer to other posts with material from Khidekel, click here.
It’s only natural to feel stressed from time to time. When we do, it’s important to address the feeling head-on. When we ignore our bodies’ signs that tell us to slow down, our stress can build up and eventually escalate, which can lead to burnout.
We asked our Thrive community to share with us the little hints from their bodies that tell them it’s time to slow down. Which of these signs are you experiencing?
Some observations from the community as to signs we may be missing:
- You’re having trouble focusing
- You feel sore and achy
- You’re more cranky than usual
- Your eye is twitching
- Your neck feels stiff
- You’re especially tired
- Your stomach is hurting
- You feel pressure in your head
