Last year, we wrote about cancer survivor Jane Marczewski. She used the stage name Nightbirde. And appeared on the tryouts for America’s Got Talent. And wowed Simon Cowell. Unfortunately, she did not make it to the actual show due to cancer-related issues. Sad to say, on Sunday February 20, 2022, Jane passed way. This post is in memory of Nightbirde – an amazing person. She was only 31.

First, here’s the replay of her 2021 performance.

Rest in Peace: In Memory of Nightbirde – An Amazing Person

As a pancreatic cancer survivor, every cancer story makes me tear up. But, admittedly, this story makes me even sadder. Such a young, inspirational person should not have to endure all that Nightbirde endured. Before her death, she prepared a YouTube video that was shared after her death. It appears below the obituary.

Here, we excerpt part of the obituary from the Daily.com:

America’s Got Talent singer Nightbirde died at age 31 following ‘devastating’ cancer battle. Six months after being forced to quit the show when her health “‘took a turn for the worse.” Jane Marczewski, who went by the stage name Nightbirde, reportedly passed away on Sunday following months of cancer treatment. AGT host Terry Crews and judges Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, and Heidi Klum all paid tribute to Marczewski on social media on Monday

The singer, from Ohio, revealed during her emotional audition in June that she had cancer in her liver, lungs, and spine. Marczewski amazed the AGT judges and viewers alike when she performed a poignant original song, earning a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell. Less than two months later, she announced that she had to drop out of the competition series to focus on her health.

Marczewski was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and was in remission when it returned a few years later.  She was given just a 2% chance of survival in 2019, but she beat the odds and was cancer-free until the disease returned for the third and final time in 2021.

Watch Nightbirde’s final message to us. It is inspiring and tear-inducing. And shows why she was such an amazing person.
